Who We AreAerospace and Defense Industry Related District Lodge 725 represents over 16,000 active and retired members in California. Chartered in 1994, our District Lodge represents a diverse membership employed primarily in the Aerospace and Defense Industry occupations. The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM&AW) represents nearly a million men and women who work in more than 350 classifications or industries as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor in the commercial, manufacturing, non-manufacturing, private, public, federal, state and local government sectors of our nation's economy. They live in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Panama, Puerto Rico, and the 10 Provinces of Canada. Although the IAM began as a railroad union in 1888, today it has one of the most diversified memberships of any labor organization. The IAM represents employees in all major industries, including aerospace, air transport, ground transport and auto repair, office, computer, clerical, medical and technical positions as well as traditional manufacturing positions such as machinists, tool & die makers, logistics, assemblers, production and maintenance and even security jobs. IAM members are also employed in metal products manufacturing facilities, on the railroads, and in the design, construction, repair, support and maintenance work of an almost endless variety of skills and occupational endeavors.
